I recently visited Automotive Excellence for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. My wife's aging '99 Accord (180k miles) wasn't passing smog due to an error code so we couldn't register it. She heard the cost could run close to the value of her old car and our usual mechanic couldn't do the job, so she said, "Not worth it; let's get rid of it". I hoped Automotive Excellence could help me convince her otherwise and, sure enough, they expertly fixed her car at a reasonable price. That's not all - my own vehicle has a specific problem with the VTC actuator that which was common for its model and year. It's apparently obscure enough that my usual mechanic, who I trust and respect, said, "I've never heard of that, let me research it", then told me he couldn't fix it. Another great mechanic I know also passed, "We avoid those kinds of internal engine jobs, sorry". I bit the bullet and rang the dealer only to get an obscenely expensive quote. Oof. I kept looking - some mechanics reacted as though I had asked them tap dance while whistling Yankee Doodle, while even highly-rated shops that specialize in Japanese vehicles turned me down. The one place that could fix it quoted me a price higher than the dealership (!). Enter Dave. I barely mentioned my issue and, unlike every other mechanic I had spoken to, he knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. I wasn't even done explaining when he provided enough specific details to make it obvious he was supremely knolwedgeable. And the price? Very reasonable. Needless to say, I'll be making an appointment for that car as well. Despite being incredibly busy, Dave is a kind and good-natured gent. His warmth and earnest desire to assist made me like him instantly. It feels like you have a trustworthy uncle who wrote the book on everything automotive and will look after you. That means a lot because my car is not just a hunk of metal. I have so much riding on it - my financial stability, my livelihood, my health, and the lives of the people I love most. Wow Morty this is quite the review and we truly appreciate it! Yes, "Uncle" Dave as he is known in the industry as, really knows his stuff when it comes to anything with an engine. He started taking things apart when he was a toddler and putting them back together by the time he was 5. And, we're fortunate in that we not only have Dave but we also have Kevin, a total Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus Guru on staff! So between the two we have the best Sonoma County has to offer in terms of technicians. Our goals are to provide exceptional customer service coupled with high quality repairs done for a reasonable price. We will never sell you something you don't need and we will always advise on needs of the vehicle based on safety first.
